Description

The oil painting on Cardboard titled "Flame of Leaves in the Autumn Wind" captures the vibrant and passionate essence of autumn as it sweeps across the landscape. The artist has skillfully used a bold, expressive palette to convey the intensity of the changing season, where the hills are set ablaze with fiery hues of orange, red, and yellow. The foreground is alive with the rich, textured strokes of leaves, each one catching the last warm rays of the sun before the chill of winter arrives. The rolling hills in the foreground are painted in a stunning array of warm tones, with strokes that seem to dance across the canvas, echoing the movement of leaves caught in a gust of wind. The bright, almost neon greens and golden yellows capture the last remnants of summer's warmth, while the deeper, more intense reds and oranges signal the full embrace of autumn. This contrast of colors creates a dynamic sense of energy, as if the landscape itself is alive, breathing in the crisp, cool air of the changing season. As the eye moves towards the background, the scene transitions to the cool, shadowed slopes of the distant mountains. These peaks are rendered in deep, majestic purples and blues, creating a striking contrast against the warmth of the foreground. The cool tones provide a sense of depth and distance, capturing the way the mountains loom over the landscape, their jagged edges softened by the mist of a cool autumn morning. Above it all, the sky is a delicate blend of soft yellows and cool, dusky blues, creating a gentle backdrop that allows the fiery landscape below to truly shine. The artist has captured the subtle interplay of light as the sun dips lower in the sky, casting long, golden shadows across the hills and illuminating the landscape in a warm, golden glow. This painting captures the fleeting, intense beauty of autumn – a season of transformation, where the landscape is briefly set ablaze with color before the quiet, solemn tones of winter take hold. It invites the viewer to pause, breathe in the crisp air, and appreciate the ever-changing beauty of nature. The thick, impasto brushstrokes add a tactile quality to the work, drawing the viewer in to explore the texture and movement of the scene. It is a celebration of life, change, and the fiery spirit of autumn.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
