Description
Apocalipsis Interior es una obra que reinterpreta, desde una mirada crítica y contemporánea, la figura icónica de San Juan Bautista según Caravaggio. Aquí, el profeta pierde su aura sacra para convertirse en testigo –y quizás cómplice– de un mundo en ruina.
El cuerpo masculino, envuelto en un manto rojo intenso que remite a la tradición barroca, sostiene una nube nuclear, símbolo máximo de la autodestrucción moderna. El bastón pastoral se transforma en un objeto plástico, y la escena se completa con una copa vacía y un portátil que muestra una explosión atómica, insinuando la banalización del fin del mundo en la era digital.
A través de la técnica mixta y el diálogo entre imagen fotográfica y materia pictórica, la obra invita a reflexionar sobre la pérdida de referentes espirituales en un presente dominado por la tecnología, el narcisismo y la sobreinformación. El resultado es una imagen potente y ambigua, donde lo sublime y lo trágico conviven en equilibrio inestable.

Giusy Versace and Giangiacomo Pino Costa form a creative duo that explores the boundaries between photography and painting, creating a contemporary visual language where technical rigor and expressive spontaneity dialogue in perfect balance.
Their research is based on a process of media hybridization, starting with photography – black and white and color – and ending with material painting. Their works are born from the reinterpretation of classical iconography, filtered by an urban and contemporary sensibility, where the pictorial gesture intervenes to stratify meanings and textures.
Their methodological approach combines the precision of the photographic image with the immediacy of the pictorial sign, generating unique works that transcend the traditional boundaries of different media to achieve a recognizable and innovative aesthetic dimension.
The duo's work is characterized by a critical reading of the present through the prism of artistic tradition, synthesizing cultural heritage and contemporary events. Their compositions evoke intimate and universal narratives, capable of establishing a direct dialogue with the observer through a poetic approach combining urban dimension and existential reflection. Versace-Pino Costa's works have received critical acclaim and been selected for international exhibitions and projects.
