Unexpected Encounter, 2024

Unexpected Encounter | Surreal Figurative | Retro Inspired with Bird-Head Figure"

This acrylic artwork invites the viewer into a playful yet thought-provoking scene. Inspired by a retro photograph, the composition depicts a group of young women walking arm-in-arm along the beach—except one of the figures surprises us with the head of a bird. The choice to leave parts of the canvas monochrome, painted in warm brown tones, contrasts with the vibrant use of pinks, reds, and greens, creating a dialogue between past and present.

The surreal twist transforms a seemingly ordinary nostalgic moment into something unexpected, almost dreamlike. The artwork raises questions about perception, identity, and the absurdity of blending human and animal traits. It is both humorous and contemplative, encouraging the viewer to look deeper and find meaning beyond the surface. Perfect for collectors of figurative and surrealist art, this canvas is a lively conversation starter, ideal for modern interiors that embrace bold, thought-provoking works.
