Description
This striking work in mixed media (hand-worked Lithograph) is an early and rare work by internationally acclaimed South African artist Marlene Dumas.
The piece features an expressive portrait of a child. The composition is emotionally intense: the back of a childs head rendered in raw, expressive strokes, while delicate cartographic textures and ghostly childlike hands emerge from the lower half of the image.
Hand-signed and dated “1986" in pencil at the lower left.
Hand-numbered in pencil - from an extremely limited edition of just 20 copies - all hand-worked.
The work is professionally framed in our own frame-shop, floating in a double, acid-free passe-partout, within a custom, handcrafted wooden frame with Plexiglas® Optical HC, offering UV protection, scratch resistance, and minimal reflection.
