Description
Panel of several square canvases of different sizes arranged in a staggered composition.
This artwork expresses a certain anger and confusion in the face of the world around us. Several vindictive slogans, written in resin, follow one another in a series of explosions of bright, aggressive colors. Composed of flowing tags, plays on textures, and strong contrasts, they reveal a graphic and plastic revolt. The vivid oranges and fluorescent yellows remind us of the sense of alarm weighing on the world today and the pervasive anger that gnaws at us all in the face of its injustices. The depth of the blues, combined with black and white, reinforces the power of this painting. Symbols such as "peace and love" or the halo express this search for harmony and peace within this organized chaos.
A powerful work, both in its colors and its spontaneous abstract graphic style. Each element responds to another, creating a harmonious whole that nonetheless evokes the artist's cathartic violence. Erasures, superimposed writing, scratches, accumulations… all convey the overwhelming emotions that the world places upon our shoulders…
The title "A Clockwork Orange" obviously evokes the color that forms the central theme of the work. But it also alludes to Stanley Kubrick's film, where the schizophrenic violence of the protagonists is unleashed upon the innocence of a world guilty by its system and social conditioning… Like an act of violence, this work expresses all the internalized anger of a society on the verge of implosion…
Can you decipher the various slogans that are still legible? This confusion reveals the confusion of our world, which has become inaudible and illegible. Truths are hidden, lies flourish everywhere, seizing upon the absolute truth to distort the world. Clarity has given way to the obscurantism of bad faith; immersed in a perfidious illusion, compulsivity has taken hold…
It is in this somewhat more raw spirit that my work tends to move today. A harshness that can be attributed to our times, and which will influence my next collection in preparation…BOYCOTT!
Presentation
Just has established himself in the contemporary art scene with his canvases featuring raised lettering, characterized by their chromatic vibrancy and visual energy. Having inherited a graffiti practice initiated in his adolescence, the artist transposes his technical mastery of aerosol to a semantic reflection on our era.
His work unfolds like a linguistic game where words reveal the contradictions inherent in our consumer societies. Through misinterpretation, subversion, and spoonerisms, Just illuminates contemporary alienation, transforming ills into words.
These verbal reflections take the form of striking slogans, borrowing the impactful power of advertising language. The polychromy, the relief effects, and the contrasts create a dialectical tension between concealed truths and blatant lies.
The graffiti aesthetic persists in this work: spontaneity, a defiant dimension, and a strong visual presence assert a fragment of urban life with a powerful, subversive edge. The artist asks: why do we remain blind to our own paradoxes?
