Description
This artwork on raw wood depicts a stylized large feline, recognizable by its slender silhouette, spotted coat, and piercing gaze. Painted directly onto reclaimed wooden planks, the surface retains its roughness, cracks, and natural grain, which interact with the paint and enhance the organic and wild character of the scene.
The animal is rendered in dominant cold blues and deep blacks, with touches of white for the whiskers and muzzle details. The bright, expressive yellow eyes create a point of emotional tension and immediately draw the viewer's attention. The spots, almost graphic in nature, recall the visual language of street art while adapting to the irregular texture of the wood.
The feline appears in profile, slightly turned toward the outside of the frame, as if caught in a moment of silent vigilance. Its tail, visible in the lower left section, balances the composition and emphasizes the sense of movement.
The whole piece is set within a simple black frame, which contrasts with the warmth of the natural wood and highlights the modernity of the bluish palette.
The artwork conveys an atmosphere that is both urban and wild, blending the rawness of the support with the finesse of the painterly gesture, a recurring theme in the artist's work.
Presentation
Mosko was born from the alliance of two artists, who were childhood friends and have used their stencils to put the animals of the Savanna on the walls of Paris for more than twenty years. Michel Allemand and Gérard Laux are originally from the "eighteenth district" (18 arrondissement, Paris), which was under renovation during a long time and was finally finished in 1990. It is from this neighborhood that they took the pseudonym, Mosko.
There where the ruins are abundant, Mosko tries to instill joy, happiness and life with their artwork. Just like their native neighborhood, the dilapidated walls, the construction sites and the abandoned spaces of the urban world are the favorite supports of these two artists.
To reach beauty where ugliness prevails, that is perhaps the ultimate purpose of Mosko.
Michel Allemand and Gérard Laux often work with other artists, such as Nemo, Hondo and Jérôme Mesnager in order to transform the dark streets of Paris in a multicolored Savanna.
