Description
Before the Decision explores the charged moment just before a choice is made - when the future has not yet taken shape.
Layered planes of colour build a dynamic space between opposing forces: impulse and reflection, pressure and silence, hesitation and resolve. The shifting forms create a sense of movement beneath the surface, as though different thoughts and emotions are competing for attention.
At the heart of the composition, a luminous centre draws the eye towards a moment of transition. It feels like a pause before something changes — a suspended instant in which the outcome remains unknown. Rather than depicting a specific event or narrative, the painting leaves room for personal interpretation. Its emotional tension invites the viewer to recognise their own moments of hesitation, anticipation and choice.
Before the Decision is ultimately a painting about the threshold between one state and another - the quiet intensity of pausing before taking the next step.
Presentation
Born in Ostrava, I grew up in Hlučín, Czechia. For the first 20 years I lived in North Moravia, then in Michalovce, Slovakia, and since 2005 I have lived alternately in Bratislava and Austria.
I have always been involved in painting, but only really intensively in the last 10 years, when I moved from realistic to abstract painting. Abstraction offers me unimaginable possibilities of freedom.
Through painting I can express the energy of thoughts, feelings, and then the image sends it into space. My works are the essence of what I do. I often have a thought in me that will create the name of the painting, but I don't think deeply about how to make the painting. But I know why I'm doing it, I know who I'm doing it for, even if that person is unknown.
I have a strong urge to paint, and if I don't notice the time while working, I always put the energy that the painting needs into the painting. I still have other paintings in progress and sometimes I wake up at night and something makes me get up and in the morning I finish a painting that was waiting unfinished before. These are the works that I say they painted themselves.
I am satisfied with my life, I am grateful for everything I have experienced. I enjoy life in paintings, I paint for people and I wish everyone could bring the energy they need into their space and enjoy painting.
