Description
This artwork depicts a polar bear reimagined through a palette of intense and contrasting colors. The shades of blue, yellow, and orange lend the portrait a unique energy and break with classic realism. The deep blue background highlights the animal's silhouette and immediately draws the eye to its highly expressive eyes. The free and bold brushstrokes add movement and reinforce the bear's presence. The overall effect offers a contemporary and sensitive vision of this iconic animal, both powerful and fragile, inviting the viewer to an emotional rather than descriptive interpretation.
Presentation
Lise, through her mastery of color, knows how to pay homage to the subject. The wild animals, lions or tigers, are the central animals of the bestiary of this young Pontissal painter. She often represents them frontally, making the most of their fur to play with colors. It is this aspect that attracts the most: colors bordering on expressionism against balanced by looks of astonishing construction and perfect clarity. But far from confining herself to Fauvist beasts, Lise here explores the brute force of other animals: the bulls! So these new canvases, all in power, are dazzling with presence. The animals are no longer drowned in their exuberant fur, but on the contrary highlighted on a gold leaf background. More readily in profile, we observe at leisure the movement of the body, up to the muscles of these animals. Lise no longer paints kings, but gods!
