Description
This artwork presents a serene village scene dominated by a majestic, towering tree at its center. The tree's lush canopy of leaves is rendered with meticulous detail, capturing the play of light and shadow across its branches. Surrounding the tree are quaint, rustic buildings with tiled roofs, exuding a sense of timelessness and tranquility. The sunlit scene suggests a warm, clear day, with soft shadows on the ground enhancing the realism. The background showcases distant hills beneath a bright blue sky, harmonizing the composition. The painter's use of subtle color gradients and precise brushwork infuses the piece with depth and texture. The artwork skillfully combines natural and architectural elements, creating a vivid portrayal of rural life. Its unique composition and attention to detail invite viewers to immerse themselves in this idyllic landscape.
Presentation
Born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, his works were a constant presence in salons and galleries since 1982. He exhibited mainly in Bolivia and Ecuador, while his works can be found in institutional and private collections in Europe, the United States, and throughout Latin America. Considered a major figure for the painting tradition of Cochabamba, he worked at ease with watercolors, oil paints, and drawing mediums; even though his preference for watercolors is reflected in the many national awards he obtained with pieces in this medium. Outstanding landscape painter, he reflected with vivid and lively colors the staple landscapes of the Cochabamba Valley, displaying his personal character, away from the dismal and taciturn. The body of his work is considered of significance as it defines, beyond its technical excellence, the cultural melieu prevalent in the region during his time.
