Description
This work, entitled The seesaw, is part of the exhibition "The Others", addressing otherness through a form of architectural, almost cartographic abstraction.
Dans La bascule, evokes a suspended, delicate moment, where something is in the process of transforming.
The ochre background acts as a warm, welcoming, almost organic surface. It doesn't block, it supports. On this expanse, the bluish lines descend with a certain lightness: they glide, like threads, fine rain, or delicate trajectories.
At their extremities, the bursting forms resemble less impacts than blossomings—points of emergence. They are not shocks, but apparitions. Something takes shape, gently, upon contact with the ground. It evokes more the birth of a relationship than a collision.
The vertical signs on the right are no longer abrupt exclamations, but rather discreet presences, like attempts at language, stammering in the face of the other. They are part of a fragile communication, still in the process of being constructed.
The isolated figure on the left is not so much withdrawn as in a position of listening or attentiveness. It seems to be a witness to what is unfolding, perhaps on the verge of its own tipping point. It is not excluded: it is on the edge of the experience.
Thus, the title "La bascule" does not refer to a fall or a violent break, but to a subtle passage — an almost imperceptible moment where one leaves one position for another. It is an inner shift, an opening.
Presentation
Holder of a Deug in art history, I nevertheless started practicing my activity as a painter late, in 2018. And it is as an autodidact that I try to register this practice in a universe coherent with my work as a documentary filmmaker (Panita Films). In 2021, I became a member of the gallery ""Le Génie de la Bastille"" in Paris and this allowed me to present my first solo exhibition in April 2022. A few months later, I received the certificate of artistic merit from the ""Luxembourg Art Prize"" competition. That same year, I decided to set up my studio in Aubervilliers in a warehouse within a collective. In December 2023, I presented my 2nd solo exhibition at the Pavé d'Orsay gallery in Paris.
