A frontal and hypnotic composition, where the iconography of traditional finance meets contemporary digital codes.
At the center of the artwork sits a monumental Bitcoin coin, rendered in gold relief, almost sacred. Its engraved circuits and metallic sheen lend it a technological and precious aura, like a new modern idol. It is surrounded by an explosion of golden material, evoking wealth, energy, and a kind of almost divine radiance.
In the background, a rigorous repetition of $100 bills forms a dense, almost obsessive pattern. This accumulation creates a striking contrast between the old monetary system—embodied by the dollar—and this new, decentralized currency that visually dominates the foreground.
The richly ornamented baroque setting reinforces this tension between past and present: it anchors the work in a classical tradition while staging a resolutely contemporary subject.
Between the worship of money, the shift in values and the fascination with new economic symbols, the work powerfully questions our relationship to wealth and its representations, in a world undergoing profound transformation.
Presentation
Vincenzo De Cillis, born in Salento, Italy in 1984, has lived and worked in Parma for over twenty years. Following a legal education, he made a decisive career shift in 2020 to devote himself entirely to artistic creation, developing a singular universe where technical rigor and Pop aesthetics engage in a powerful dialogue.
His work is characterized by a meticulous mastery of materials and a constant pursuit of formal perfection. Hand-painted artworks and marble-resin sculptures form a rich body of work, elevated by the use of precious materials such as 22-carat gold leaf, Swarovski crystals, and exacting artisanal finishes.
At the crossroads of two heritages—the creative drive of an artist and design-dealer father, and the precision of a technical drawing teacher mother—Vincenzo has forged an immediately recognizable visual signature. His work inhabits a luxury aesthetic that he subverts with subtlety and irony, questioning contemporary codes of desire, possession, and image. Between art, design, and object, his creations transcend traditional boundaries to become true contemporary icons: seductive and brilliant, yet always underpinned by critical reflection. For De Cillis, beauty is a language—simultaneously dazzling and conscious.
