This work of art is the second in the series titled "SANCTUARY" My idea was to explore the concept of retreat and protection. Each painting in the series shows a human figure wrapped up in a fabric leaving out the face, the flowing fabric acts as a shield, offering the subject a safe haven where they can pause, reflect, and find peace. The series highlights the importance of having a space of refuge, a sanctuary where one can heal, grow and prepare for life's next steps. Both the colors that can brighten up a space and emotions portrayed is an invite to connect with the idea of finding comfort and strength within moments of solitude

My name is Igwenagu Franklin Ifeanyi, a visual paint artist from Nigeria, whose journey into art began long before I understood it could become a life's work. I never studied art in school, I actually studied engineering but art has always lived with me. As a child, I found myself drawn to drawing. Like most artists I started working with pencils at a very young age and slowly developed a deep sensitivity to form, emotion, and detail. Over time, that foundation grew into explorations with oil paint and acrylics, as my need to express more complex ideas expanded.
I have never owned a formal studio, even though my dream is to earn enough to fund a studio of my own. Most of my works were created in bedrooms, corners, and confined spaces, often with limited time and resources. Balancing engineering studies with art was not easy, but it never stopped me from creating.
Every artwork I make is special to me because of what it took to create it. Each piece carries the challenges, sacrifices, and moments behind it. My hope is that my works find collectors who feel the meaning in them and understand the journey that brought each painting to life.
My work is mainly rooted in oil and acrylic paintings, with abstract and semi-abstract forms that focus on mood, depth, and atmosphere. I work a lot with dark tones, soft light, and layered surfaces, allowing the paint to build slowly over time. Many of the pieces feel quiet, heavy, or slightly tense, as if something is forming or fading within the space. I'm drawn to balance between darkness and light, clarity and obscurity, letting parts of the painting remain unresolved. Whether oil or acrylic, my paintings are not about clear answers, but about emotion, silence, and moments that are hard to put into words.
