Rooted in the In-between, 2026

Vera Hoi

“Rooted in the In-Between" is a new painting from my "Shadow Migration" series. The delicate plant forms feel like small signs of growth and resilience to me — something fragile, but still deeply rooted.

“Shadow Migration" explores the state between loss and new beginnings—an examination of identity and inner transformation in times of change. Migration, a change in surroundings, or a profound internal transformation often create a sense of rupture and disorientation.

My abstract works reflect this contradiction: layers and translucent forms connect past and present, fractures symbolize inner turmoil, and the contrast between cold and warm tones illustrates the tension between fear and hope. However, change is not only about loss but also an opportunity to find a new inner balance. Nature elements such as branches, shadows, and organic lines represent the deep, place-independent connection between humans and the world.

“Shadow Migration" is a visual narrative about the search for inner stability – an invitation to understand home not as a place, but as an inner anchor that makes change possible.

The main source of my artistic exploration is nature, where I find harmony and a deep understanding of life. Based on the concept of Aura of Perception (Auroticity), I create authentic artworks infused with unique energy and emotional resonance. The place where I live is enchanting in its beauty and energy, inspiring me to explore the interaction between humans and nature, the psychology of relationships, self-discovery, and the state of full presence in the moment.

In my works, I focus not only on the external world but also on the landscapes of my inner soul. My pieces reveal not only the essence of landscapes but also delve into the depths of thoughts and emotions, which serve as inspiration for creating new visual narratives.

My personal experiences of development and transformation form the foundation of my artistic approach. I view change as an opportunity for profound personal growth and the exploration of uncharted aspects of my being. My artistic journey is a continuous metamorphosis, encompassing both the images themselves and the experimental methods of their creation. By exploring the interplay of colour and texture, I create artworks that reflect the richness and diversity of the transformations occurring within my inner life and the world around me.
