Where Memory Takes Root, 2026

Vera Hoi

"Where Memory Takes Root" is a mixed-media painting (oil and acryl paint) measuring 50 x 50 cm (without a frame), part of my series "The Inner Home". Framed size: 54x54x4 cm.

"The Inner Home" is a series about home as an inner state rather than a geographical place. Through translucent layers, geometric structures, and botanical forms, it explores letting go of the past, moving beyond the fear of the unknown, and finding stability in one's own presence.

In this work, I wanted to convey the feeling of an inner space that gradually takes shape through memories, lived experiences, and everything that remains with us. The translucent layers resemble traces of the past: they are still visible, but they no longer define the present. For me, the delicate botanical lines represent life continuing to grow and transform.

This painting is about returning to oneself, finding inner stability, and being fully present here and now.

The main source of my artistic exploration is nature, where I find harmony and a deep understanding of life. Based on the concept of Aura of Perception (Auroticity), I create authentic artworks infused with unique energy and emotional resonance. The place where I live is enchanting in its beauty and energy, inspiring me to explore the interaction between humans and nature, the psychology of relationships, self-discovery, and the state of full presence in the moment.

In my works, I focus not only on the external world but also on the landscapes of my inner soul. My pieces reveal not only the essence of landscapes but also delve into the depths of thoughts and emotions, which serve as inspiration for creating new visual narratives.

My personal experiences of development and transformation form the foundation of my artistic approach. I view change as an opportunity for profound personal growth and the exploration of uncharted aspects of my being. My artistic journey is a continuous metamorphosis, encompassing both the images themselves and the experimental methods of their creation. By exploring the interplay of colour and texture, I create artworks that reflect the richness and diversity of the transformations occurring within my inner life and the world around me.
