“The geography of quiet" is an abstract oil painting evoking a dreamy distance from the collection "The Weight of Air".
The far, far distance presses gently on you – light as air – and yet you feel it before you can name it. You cannot see what it holds … but you can dream of what might be there.
This painting holds that same weightless distance – airy, open, textured with detail that rewards closeness. Nothing crowds the eye or fences the mind. Only space: to feel, to remember, to be still with yourself.
Built through sgraffito, layers of transparency, and the rich impasto, the artwork invites you to move close – then closer still.
Presentation
Born in the then Soviet Union, Eremeeva has lived and worked in the Netherlands, Belgium, the United States and Italy. Her artistic language has been shaped by movement across these cultures and landscapes — experiences that continue to inform the atmosphere and emotional resonance of her work.
Originally working figuratively, Eremeeva gradually developed what she describes as an “evocative abstract” language — paintings that seek not to define meaning, but to awaken feeling, memory and reflection. Influenced by literature, silence and the fleeting nature of experience, her work moves between abstraction and suggestion, inviting viewers into spaces that feel both intimate and open.
Drawing inspiration from themes of transience, impermanence, mortality and remembrance, Eremeeva’s paintings seek not to illustrate fixed meanings but to awaken something within the viewer: a feeling, a memory, an image or emotional trace.
