Signs on white. Series Primordial Garden, 2024

Mariia Voronchak

This work is about the first encounter with the world through winter, when the garden becomes a boundless white field of discovery. Childhood games on the snow turn into the first gestures of creation — traces, lines, attempts to write one's own name. The whiteness is not emptiness, but a space of possibility, where every movement leaves a mark. Dark branches and shadows resemble primal writing, tentative yet already confident. It is a moment when one first experiences oneself as presence. A mark in the snow — simple and fragile — becomes an act of affirmation: I exist. And the garden receives this sign, holding it in silence until the first thaw.

“Primordial Garden" is the original garden, the archetypal matrix of being where earth touches the sky.
It preserves the memory of generations, the quiet echoes of childhood that continue to sprout through time.
Every branch, every ray of light is a thread of a cosmic axis connecting past, present, and future.
The garden is at once visible and invisible, dense and transparent, simple and infinitely complex.
It awakens the feeling of first joy, first discoveries, the first forms of life.
The Primordial Garden does not fully explain itself — it invites co-creation, a personal act of discovery.
It is the garden as a state of consciousness, as a field of potentiality, as a bridge between generations and the inner cosmos.
