Picnic, 2026

Antonina Bormova

In this work, the artist explores the idea of playing with one's own image. How often do we pose in front of a mirror, observe our shadow, or imagine ourselves slightly differently from who we really are? Such moments are rarely serious; they resemble an inner dialogue where reality intertwines with imagination.

The title “Picnic" deliberately shifts attention toward the ordinary and the everyday. Familiar objects enter into a dialogue with the image of the body, disrupting the expected seriousness of the scene and leaving room for a smile.

The heroine seems to interact with her own reflection — real or imagined. The boundary between observation, play, and self-presentation remains undefined, allowing the scene to exist simultaneously as a moment of self-admiration, a joke, or an effortless fantasy.

The work leaves space for multiple interpretations, united by a sense of inner freedom and lightness.
