Description
This artwork masterfully captures the untamed beauty of nature, immersing the viewer in a lush, verdant landscape. The composition is dominated by an array of wild grasses and delicate wildflowers, their earthy tones juxtaposed with vibrant greens and flickers of purples and whites. The intricate brushwork skillfully combines texture and color, creating a sense of depth and movement. The spontaneity of the strokes mirrors the natural chaos of a meadow, where each blade of grass and petal seems caught in a gentle breeze. The use of light and shadow adds a dynamic contrast, enhancing the illusion of sunlight filtering through the dense foliage. This piece excels in its ability to evoke the serenity and vitality of the wilderness, inviting viewers to explore and appreciate the intricate details of the natural world.
Presentation
David trained as a Fine Artist at Manchester College of Art before completing a Master's Degree at the Royal College of Art. He built a distinguished career in art and design education, teaching in Secondary schools. And later working as an adviser for local authorities and National education bodies. His contribution to education was recognised with an O.B.E for services to education.
Working full-time as an artist for the last 16 years, David's practice is deeply rooted in observation, interpretation and memory, inspired largely by the local environment. His work explores landscape and place through drawings, gathered references and personal experience, these often become larger paintings developed in the studio.
