Fantômas: The Geometry of the Infinite Chase

The ghosts of appear first—floating, iconic, instantly recognizable. Figures locked in an endless system of pursuit, repetition, and coded movement. Symbols of early digital culture, reduced to pure behavior: chase and escape, forever unresolved.

What once existed as light on a screen is now translated into physical space. This twelve-piece sculptural series is constructed from thousands of individually placed plastic beads—fused through heat into a rigid, pixel-like grid. The result is a transformation of the digital into the tactile: images that once flickered on monitors now carry weight, structure, and presence.

Each bead is individually arranged by hand and fused by Tizlu himself, functioning like a pixel made material, a fragment of visual memory assembled into dense, ordered form. Between nostalgia and abstraction, the figures hover in a state of suspended motion—familiar yet displaced, playful yet mechanical.

Within this contemporary digital echo, a second layer of reference emerges: Fantômas, the elusive figure of early cinema, endlessly pursued yet never captured. Together, Fantômas and the Pac-Man ghosts form a shared narrative of escape and repetition—across film, game culture, and algorithmic logic.

The chase becomes the central motif: not as story, but as structure. A closed system in which movement is constant, but resolution never arrives.
