Unique piece

Serenity uses the same five letters — KASER — as its material, but treats them in a radically different way from the three previous canvases in the series. The artist himself describes the intention behind his entire body of work:

"A starting point: the letters KASER. These are presented in semi-wild and 3D styles, in terms of dynamics, color choices, asymmetry, and effects."

Serenity pushes this approach into the strict territory of semi-wild art, rooted in the tradition of graffiti. The panoramic format—240 × 120 cm—is a generous size for a canvas, but remains small compared to the usual proportions of murals created by writers (graffiti artists), and especially the very large formats that KASER particularly favors. This 240 cm length amplifies this freedom and gives the lettering an almost mural-like breadth.

Emotional dimensions

For KASER, artworks are not neutral formal exercises. They function as records of inner states:

"The works reflect the artist's inner being and capture emotions such as aggression, calmness, desire, and hope."

The title—"Serenity"—signals the end of a cycle. After Anger—anger in the face of a world out of balance—Hope and Clarity—the intermediate states, poised between anxiety and calm—Serenity marks an emotional resolution. The work doesn't erase the tensions experienced; it has moved through them. What the title calls "serenity" is less an original calm than a regained one, still bearing the trace of the emotions that preceded it.

Serenity in the series — rupture and resolution

In both its size and style, Serenity marks a deliberate break with the three canvases that precede it. The chromatic palette is the most visible departure: where Anger, Hope, and Clarity played on emotionally charged dominant colors—the bright red of anger, the turquoise of hope, and the dominant blues of clarity—Serenity adopts a range of mauve and old rose against a dark olive green background. An unusual palette for the artist, deliberately chosen.

This double break—panoramic format and atypical palette—was the condition KASER set for himself for the exhibition "Graffiti, Letters and Styles," organized by the Versoix cultural center "Le Boléro" in partnership with the OUTSIDE ART gallery. For this first appearance on Swiss soil, the artist traveled from Berlin to Geneva to deliver a work atypical in its color scheme, rooted in his natural mural practice.

The series has already made its mark on the institutional landscape: Anger entered the collection of the Cultural Fund of the city of Versoix in July 2025.

Formal analysis

The composition unfolds the five letters KASER in a semi-wild style. The forms merge into one another in a continuous, almost choreographic movement. Unlike previous canvases where the block of lettering retained a structural legibility, Serenity pushes decipherment to its limit: the letters exist as a plastic mass before existing as a sign. The K and the R—isolated at the corners of the canvas in simpler, almost childlike characters—function as reading anchors, entry points into the composition's space.

The palette is structured around a dominant mauve-pink and old rose—a warm, tertiary range, unusual in KASER's chromatic repertoire. This choice lends the work a paradoxical softness that contrasts with the formal difficulty of deciphering the wild style. The dark olive-green background amplifies this tension: a deep, natural setting against which the mauve forms vibrate intensely. Straight blades of amber and ochre gold traverse the composition diagonally, a direct reference to the artist's architectural training: they support the central lettering and rhythmically structure the space without constraining its movement.

The exhibition's scenography deserves mention: KASER extended the artwork onto the gallery walls with black line drawings—isolated letters, graphic shapes, and his own signature—that spill beyond the canvas's frame. This gesture evokes the original graffiti wall and abolishes the boundary between the artwork and the exhibition space, transforming the whole into a total installation.

The artist's ability to navigate between the codes of the writer — wild style, bursts, street dynamics — and the requirements of a gallery work — format, palette, technical control — is perhaps a fair definition of KASER's work.

Presentation

Born and raised in Berlin, I discovered graffiti at the age of 12 and developed a passion for drawing from an early age. This passion led me to study architecture, where I learned techniques, perspective drawing, light and shadow, workflows and conceptual thinking.

Full of creativity, I paint on paper, canvas and walls after my daily work as an architect.
I love to paint in the sun with friends, but also alone on canvas at night.

In 2018 my first solo exhibition took place in Berlin Wedding at bar 800A where I did some commission work. Before the pandemic, I traveled the world and participated in many graffiti jams'; on the Canary Island of MOS, in Denmark, in Bangkok ...

For me, art is a life full of emotions and everyone is free to interpret it in their own way. Peace!
