Description
Acrylic takes over here with an abstract and spontaneous figuration. The gesture is quick. The material accumulates in successive layers. A stylized face dominates the composition. Its features are sketched with frankness. Touches of pink highlight the cheeks and the gaze.
Below, a white rabbit settles in. The animal seems to merge with the character. The contours are blurred. The drawing gives way to chance. The pale pink background welcomes scattered letters. These graphic characters rhythmize the space.
The whole rests on a fragile balance. White dominates to bring light. The contrast with the black of the hat structures the scene. This piece plays with the codes of identity. It invites an instinctive reading. The canvas ends with a pale yellow band at the base.
Presentation
I am artist , illustrator and cultural activist. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and have been living in Madrid for over 20 years, where I work as an illustrator for renowned newspapers ("El País", from Spain and "La Nación", from Argentina).
In 2012, I began exploring my personal work, coinciding with my birth, intrinsically linked circumstances: raising my son, creating my home studio, and my personal work are all part of the same aesthetic gesture. I conceive each work as a game, where everything happens in real time.
I am interested in abstract figuration, the subtle balance where the forces of chance, the unconscious gesture and the sensitivity of drawing interact. I stop at the precise point, where the spectator's intervention is essential to complete the work, like an invitation to new starting points. My recurring themes are connections and identity.
