Description
A fleet of sailboats cleaves the waves in a vertical surge. The gesture is rapid. The material piles up to translate the movement of the water and the tension of the sails.
The painter uses a mixed technique combining acrylic, oil, and lead. This technical choice allows playing with contrasts and bringing a solid structure to the composition.
The influence of Impressionist masters is felt in the capture of the instant. The light seems to glide over the marine surface, creating a vaporous atmosphere.
The gaze is directed towards the open sea, where the sky merges with the horizon. The lines stretch. White dominates the palette, punctuated by grays and dark touches to highlight the hulls of the ships.
This marine painting, created in 2026, captures the fugacity of a nautical race. The textured rendering accentuates the relief of the waves in the foreground.
Presentation
Richard Poumelin is a French artist, born in 1965.
He began drawing at the age of sixteen and then trained under the guidance of the painter, Jean-Georges Inca. He used watercolors for a while, a technique in which he excelled and won several awards, but since the last few years, he has been using a mixed technique involving acrylic, oil and lead.
Through the use of these materials, he is able to achieve an expertise and plays around with contrasts. He is passionate about nature and specifically his Provincial homeland, he draws inspiration from the various landscapes, mundane scenes and depicts them in his work.
Self-taught, Richard is inspired by impressionists and post-impressionists like the watercolor English artists, William Turner and Richard Parkes Boningon. In this artistic movement, he discovered the moving aspect and the ephemeral side of moments, caught on the spot. His modern post-impressionist side is about creating colorful atmospheres, sprinkled with light along with curves and verticals, he gives the world a solid structure.
Her work is filled with emotions and vibrations. His absolute quest, opens a path towards intense lyricism.
