Description
The urban space fragments under a assured brushstroke, the composition plays on marked contrasts between dark architectural blocks and an almost blinding white light. The vertical lines soar with force, they suggest the verticality of modern metropolises without ever getting trapped in realism.
The human silhouettes, reduced to simple black lines, accentuate the immensity of the setting, they bring a narrative dimension to the whole. The chromatic palette of violet remains sober, this neutral harmony reinforces the architectural and timeless aspect of the scene. The eye circulates freely between the areas of shadow and the areas of clarity, creating a rigorous visual balance.
Presentation
Richard Poumelin is a French artist, born in 1965.
He began drawing at the age of sixteen and then trained under the guidance of the painter, Jean-Georges Inca. He used watercolors for a while, a technique in which he excelled and won several awards, but since the last few years, he has been using a mixed technique involving acrylic, oil and lead.
Through the use of these materials, he is able to achieve an expertise and plays around with contrasts. He is passionate about nature and specifically his Provincial homeland, he draws inspiration from the various landscapes, mundane scenes and depicts them in his work.
Self-taught, Richard is inspired by impressionists and post-impressionists like the watercolor English artists, William Turner and Richard Parkes Boningon. In this artistic movement, he discovered the moving aspect and the ephemeral side of moments, caught on the spot. His modern post-impressionist side is about creating colorful atmospheres, sprinkled with light along with curves and verticals, he gives the world a solid structure.
Her work is filled with emotions and vibrations. His absolute quest, opens a path towards intense lyricism.
