Distant Peak, 2026

Helen Shukina

A serene mountain landscape unfolds in a palette of cool blues and iridescent whites. The oil application is bold. Thick strokes create a tactile surface. Rhythmic movements of the palette knife define the rugged terrain. Light dances across the peaks through a sophisticated play of contrast. A soft glow touches the distant summit. This luminous peak transitions into a delicate violet sky. The composition captures a fleeting moment of twilight harmony. Cold shadows merge with warm highlights to evoke a crisp atmosphere. Precise academic skill meets an expressive, intuitive approach. Every brushstroke emphasizes the raw energy of nature. The artwork balances stability and movement. Deep indigo hues anchor the foreground. Lighter tones lift the gaze toward the horizon. The scene radiates a quiet, meditative power. It is a study of light and temperature. The physical texture of the oil adds a structural dimension to the snow-covered slopes. This piece transforms a natural vista into an emotive experience. The result is a vivid exploration of a wintry evening.
