Description
A calm blue horizon is interrupted by geometric signals and shifting perception. This original oil artwork on canvas combines a natural landscape with artificial fragmentation. A wide blue sky, reflective water, green field, and small paper boat create a recognizable scene, while rows of pink, black, white, and blue squares disrupt its continuity.
The composition moves between realism and abstraction. The lower half suggests grass, wildflowers, and open water, while the upper field becomes almost diagrammatic. The repeated squares behave like visual signals, introducing a coded rhythm that changes the way the landscape is read.
At the center of the work is the idea of an unstable threshold. The horizon is not simply a division between land and sky; it becomes a shifting boundary between memory, perception, and transformation. The small boat reinforces this sense of passage, suspended within a space that feels both real and constructed.
The contrast between organic detail and precise geometric elements gives the artwork its distinctive tension. Cool blues and greens create calm, while neon pink and black introduce interruption and visual energy.
This artwork will appeal to collectors drawn to conceptual landscapes, geometric abstraction, and works that explore perception through unusual visual structure. It suits contemporary interiors, offices, studios, and spaces where a thoughtful but visually clear focal point is desired.

Presentation
Nat Derevyanko is a Ukrainian visual artist based in Avezzano, Italy. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including a solo exhibition at Distinction Gallery in Escondido, California, and projects in Italy, Ukraine, and the United States. Her biography is included in the Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine. Derevyanko is a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and the Union of Designers of Ukraine.
She studied Graphic Design at the Ivan Trush Lviv College of Decorative and Applied Arts and Sacred Art at the Lviv National Academy of Arts. She has worked as a visual artist since 2001 and is a Professor of Design at Khortytsia National Academy in Zaporizhzhia.
Working as a narrative symbolist, Nat explores displacement, vulnerability, belonging, memory, and the loss of home. Her visual language draws on the symbolic structures of sacred art while moving them into psychologically charged contemporary narratives.
Childhood is a recurring lens in her paintings: innocence and imagination coexist with anxiety, early fears, and emotional wounds that persist into adult life. Following the war in Ukraine and her displacement to Italy, the idea of home gained new urgency in her practice. Through symbolic and imaginative imagery, Nat Derevyanko considers how personal memory intersects with collective experience and how vulnerability can become a space for resilience and transformation.
