Description

Quiet wonder: a gray horse carries pink-breasted birds. This original oil artwork creates a calm but unusual scene where a pale horse stands between two worlds. Behind it is a lush green meadow full of living texture and quiet motion. Beneath its feet is a geometric, pixel-like ground in pink, blue, olive, black, and soft gray — a man-made surface that feels very different from the natural space around it. That contrast gives the work its real tension and charm.

The horse appears as a guide, a keeper of inner direction, and a symbol of steady life force. The small birds resting along its back trust that movement completely, turning the scene into a tender image of companionship, instinct, and shared travel. The work suggests a passage between nature and artificial reality, between memory and the present, between what is felt and what is constructed. It keeps a poetic openness, so the viewer can read it as a symbolic animal portrait, a meditation on trust, or simply a beautiful contemporary artwork with a surreal edge.

This artwork will appeal to collectors who love meaningful figurative art, animals, symbolism, and modern interiors with personality. Its rich greens, soft gray tones, and bright pink accents make it visually memorable without becoming heavy. It works beautifully as a statement artwork in a living room, bedroom, study, or creative space, and it also makes a thoughtful gift for someone who feels connected to horses, birds, freedom, or the quiet wisdom of nature.

Presentation

Nat Derevyanko is a Ukrainian visual artist based in Avezzano, Italy. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including a solo exhibition at Distinction Gallery in Escondido, California, and projects in Italy, Ukraine, and the United States. Her biography is included in the Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine. Derevyanko is a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and the Union of Designers of Ukraine.

She studied Graphic Design at the Ivan Trush Lviv College of Decorative and Applied Arts and Sacred Art at the Lviv National Academy of Arts. She has worked as a visual artist since 2001 and is a Professor of Design at Khortytsia National Academy in Zaporizhzhia.

Working as a narrative symbolist, Nat explores displacement, vulnerability, belonging, memory, and the loss of home. Her visual language draws on the symbolic structures of sacred art while moving them into psychologically charged contemporary narratives.

Childhood is a recurring lens in her paintings: innocence and imagination coexist with anxiety, early fears, and emotional wounds that persist into adult life. Following the war in Ukraine and her displacement to Italy, the idea of home gained new urgency in her practice. Through symbolic and imaginative imagery, Nat Derevyanko considers how personal memory intersects with collective experience and how vulnerability can become a space for resilience and transformation.
