Description
Urban art invites itself onto a rigid support to recreate the aesthetic of urban walls. This Franco-German duo explores human complexity through dense and superimposed compositions. The mixed technique imitates the passage of time and the accumulation of paint layers.
The gaze circulates between areas of shadow and flashes of light. Red and white stripes recall road signs, bringing graphic tension to the whole. Fragments of torn paper add a tactile and organic relief.
The iconoclastic approach questions contemporary socio-political issues. The gesture is fast, almost instinctively rebellious. A black inscription stands out on a pristine white background, like a signal in the middle of visual chaos.
The work is characterized by this mix of destruction and creation. The composition balances neutral tones and touches of yellow or green. The discreet signature of the collective is found, represented by the silhouette of a walking dog. This piece dates from 2015.
Presentation
KRM is a French-German artists duo who produces imaginary walls on wood and metal. Their concept and style of painting -- "Wall spirit" -- is an iconoclast and rebel art style, based on the human tragedy and the complexity of the being.
The work reflects contemporary issues and deals with socio-political topics. Each work is completed with the KRM logo, with an image of a walking dog. KRM is their signum.
Their work began on the walls in Berlin and the Leipzig Museum has acquired works by KRM. They are part of major collections in France and abroad. They are represented by different galleries in Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Kuwait.
