Description
The fixed gaze and serene appearance define this animal portrait made with pastel.
The artist captures the nobility of a cheetah resting in a dreamlike atmosphere.
The meticulous work of the line emphasizes the texture of the fur and the precision of the black spots.
A soft light sculpts the volumes of the face, bringing a striking relief to the animal's expression.
The background unfolds in a gradient of purplish and bluish tones.
This chromatic contrast separates the tawny silhouette and accentuates the depth of the composition.
The fluidity of the pastel allows for subtle transitions between the areas of shadow and light.
The animal seems to observe the horizon with calm attention.
The technical rendering favors realism while maintaining a poetic dimension.
This 2025 creation stands out for its mastery of nuances and its visual softness.
The subject naturally integrates into a vegetal environment suggested by a few blades of grass.
Presentation
Cécile Carrega, also known by her artist name Crga Pastel Animalier, is a French pastelist from Chesnay, near Versailles.
Passionate about the animals she has always loved to draw, she discovered dry pastel a few years ago and acquired the technique autodidactically.
Her work aims to pay the greatest possible tribute to the animal she represents by combining technique and creativity to give birth to unique works that convey a real emotion.
She has been exhibiting for several years and has accumulated experiences; exchanges with the public are one of her motivators. She was recently awarded a bronze medal during her first participation in the Salon des Artistes Français at Art Capital and has also exhibited in New York.
ARTISTIC APPROACH:
Drawing every shadow, every relief, every hair, every nuance of an animal to see it gradually come to life on paper is what animates each of my works. I love to transcribe the soul of my subject; this requires a lot of patience and observation. When I draw, time flows without me realizing it and I completely escape; it is a privileged moment between the animal and me. I work exclusively with dry pastel, mainly in the form of pencils, which allows me great precision. My encounter with dry pastel was sudden and unexpected, but it resonated as an évidence. Each new painting is a deepening of this versatile medium that allows me to express all my creativity.
