Description

Silence in the Bay is an original oil on canvas Mediterranean seascape featuring boats resting in a secluded turquoise bay. Rich palette-knife textures, vibrant coastal colors, and crystal-clear water capture the natural beauty of the Mediterranean coastline. Inspired by hidden coves and quiet moments by the sea, this contemporary coastal painting explores themes of tranquility, freedom, and connection with nature. Sunlit rocks, turquoise waters, and anchored boats create a peaceful atmosphere that invites reflection and escape.

Presentation

Natalia Olmez is a contemporary artist and painting instructor, born in Voronezh, Russia, and currently living and working in Antalya, Türkiye.

She studied Landscape Design at a university in Voronezh while simultaneously receiving formal training in oil painting through an evening fine arts program.

After working professionally in the field of design in Russia, she moved to Türkiye in 2015, where she began her professional career as an artist. Focusing on oil painting, she developed her own artistic style. Alongside her artistic practice, she teaches oil painting to adults and conducts painting workshops.

In her work, Natalia combines realism and impressionism. Her paintings are characterized by expressive brushstrokes, palette knife textures, layered paint application, and rich color transitions. Light, its changing qualities, and its interaction with color play a central role in her artistic practice.

Her primary source of inspiration is the Mediterranean — its natural beauty, distinctive light, and the atmosphere of coastal life. Seascapes, marinas, sailing boats, peaceful bays, and reflections on water are recurring subjects in her paintings. Rather than simply reproducing a landscape, Natalia seeks to capture the atmosphere of a place, the fleeting nature of light, and the emotions evoked by the natural world.

In her collection “Between Sky and Sea," the artist explores the harmony of light, color, and the marine environment. Through Mediterranean-inspired imagery, she conveys a sense of freedom, tranquility, and the deep connection between people and nature.

Natalia Olmez continues her artistic and teaching practice in Antalya and actively participates in national and international exhibitions, contemporary art fairs, and collaborative art projects.

Her paintings have been exhibited in international exhibitions in Türkiye and the United Kingdom.
