Description
A calm abstract horizon stretches between an expansive white sky and layers of terracotta, brown, gray, and charcoal below. The artist reduces the landscape to a simple relationship between earth and open space, allowing color, texture, and the horizontal division of the composition to carry its emotional weight.
Thick acrylic creates a relief-like surface across the linen canvas. Ivory, cream, beige, and pale gray passages dominate the airy upper field, while darker earth tones gather below. A warm band of terracotta and rust orange breaks through the foreground, creating contrast against the cooler whites and grays.
The work was inspired by observing the horizon and the feeling of stillness it can create. Light and shadow meet across the textured surface, while the restrained palette evokes cool evening air and an almost meditative sense of distance. The result feels grounded yet spacious, inviting the viewer to pause rather than search for a specific narrative.
Its sophisticated neutral palette makes the artwork particularly suitable for a contemporary living room, bedroom, office, or minimalist interior. It can also make a thoughtful gift for someone drawn to quiet landscapes, tactile abstraction, earthy colors, and contemplative contemporary art.
Materials: Acrylic on linen canvas.
Shipping / Display: Ready to hang. The artwork is shipped in a protective box.
Presentation
Marina Skromova is a contemporary artist. A member of the Professional Union of Artists of Russia since 2020. She has participated in exhibitions and international art competitions in Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the Czech Republic.
Marina Skromova works primarily in oil and acrylic, using a palette knife to build highly textured, dimensional surfaces. Impasto is central to her visual language: paint shifts from fine details to dense sculptural marks, giving the image an almost tactile presence and allowing light to change across its surface.
Rather than working within a single genre, Marina Skromova approaches painting through material, color, and experimentation. Her practice is driven by a desire to communicate joy and emotional energy. Saturated color, expressive texture, and a sense of movement give her paintings an intentionally optimistic character.
Since 2024, Marina Skromova has increasingly focused on commissioned works and projects created directly for business and residential interiors, continuing to explore how tactile painting can shape the atmosphere and emotional experience of a space.
