I See, You See, 2025

Salome Rigvava

A haunting gaze emerges from a veil of surreal foliage. This figurative oil painting captures a moment of profound psychological tension. A woman stands beneath a canopy of oversized, bell-shaped blossoms that droop like heavy curtains. Her face is partially obscured by a pale blue mask, creating a stark contrast between the artificial shell and the vulnerability of her expression.
The composition balances meticulous detail with a dreamlike atmosphere. She holds a golden lipstick tube to her lips, a gesture of ritualistic beauty amidst an unsettling environment. A string of pearls adds a touch of classic elegance to her simple white shirt, which reflects the cool tones of the surrounding flora.
The artist utilizes a rich palette of deep greens and luminous whites to isolate the subject in her own internal world. Light plays across the fabric and skin, emphasizing the stillness of the scene. This artwork explores the intersection of identity and performance. It transforms a mundane act of grooming into a study of solitude and silent introspection. The narrative culminates in the contrast between the organic chaos of the greenery and the rigid stillness of the masked figure.
