Sunflowers, 2026

Shorena Zumbadze

A vibrant explosion of light and color. This oil painting captures the raw energy of nature through a dense arrangement of blossoms. Deep amber and fiery orange petals radiate from dark, textured centers. The artist employs a rich, layered application of paint to create a tangible sense of volume.
Each flower feels organic and heavy. Shadows merge into a mysterious violet background, allowing the warm tones to glow with intensity. This contrast enhances the dramatic mood of the composition.
The composition reflects a late-blooming creative passion. Originating from Tbilisi, the artist brings a self-taught perspective to this figurative study. The brushwork is confident and expressive. It transforms a classic floral subject into a contemporary exploration of emotion and texture.
The artwork rests on a dimly lit surface, grounding the ethereal light of the petals. Every stroke contributes to a feeling of abundance and vitality. The deep blue vase anchors the swirling movement of the foliage. The scene concludes with subtle highlights that dance across the curved leaves and petals.
