Description
The artist captures here the essence of a harbor at dusk. The palette knife sculpts the material with precision. The sails rise towards a pale sky.
A golden gradient dominates the horizon. This warm light contrasts with the cool tones of the hulls. Blue and purple intertwine in a liquid reflection.
The gesture is free. The abstraction suggests the silhouette of the boats without freezing the movement. The composition plays on the balance between the verticality of the masts and the horizontality of the sea.
The acrylic technique brings a tactile density to the canvas. Each stroke structures the space. The whole evokes a serene atmosphere where calm overcomes tumult.
The work unfolds in a play of mirrors. The hues respond to each other between the sky and the water. The visual rendering emphasizes the fluidity of a stylized marine landscape.
Presentation
Fred Boutet is originally from Bordeaux. Though he has had a passion for painting since his childhood, he began his professional life as a wine producer. He decided to become a painter only in 2000 and now divides his time between these two professions.
A self-taught painter, he initially turned towards abstract painting, which allowed him to satisfy a need for freedom through artistic creation. However, he gradually headed towards a more figurative style, and addressed the theme of marine, one of his favorite topics These boat paintings are almost certainly a tribute to his hometown and in memory of his father who was a sailor.
The artist also works on urban landscape, the ones in big cities where buildings, concrete and light interwine.
Fred Boutet does acrylic painting and uses a paint brush and palette knife. According to him, the use of colors helps him structure and organize his creations: these are combined together, creating a complicit atmosphere and portraying natural elements where power and calm oppose one another.
