Description
A light breeze animates this maritime scene where time seems suspended.
The composition revolves around three sailboats immobilized on a mirror-like water.
The brush plays with the material to create tangible reliefs on the canvas.
The central element attracts the eye with its saturated shades of blue and yellow.
These touches of color contrast with the softness of the sky in pastel hues.
The light, diffuse and zenithal, bathes the whole in a serene clarity.
The artist favors an intuitive approach where the form is born from the superposition of pigments.
The reflections on the water's surface extend vertically the structure of the masts.
The stroke is precise for the lines of tension, while it becomes freer for the rendering of the waves.
The final rendering evokes the tranquility of a harbor at dawn.
This oil painting is distinguished by its masterful use of the palette knife and impasto.
The framing focuses attention on the fragile balance between the air and the liquid element.

Presentation
Fred Boutet is originally from Bordeaux. Though he has had a passion for painting since his childhood, he began his professional life as a wine producer. He decided to become a painter only in 2000 and now divides his time between these two professions.
A self-taught painter, he initially turned towards abstract painting, which allowed him to satisfy a need for freedom through artistic creation. However, he gradually headed towards a more figurative style, and addressed the theme of marine, one of his favorite topics These boat paintings are almost certainly a tribute to his hometown and in memory of his father who was a sailor.
The artist also works on urban landscape, the ones in big cities where buildings, concrete and light interwine.
Fred Boutet does acrylic painting and uses a paint brush and palette knife. According to him, the use of colors helps him structure and organize his creations: these are combined together, creating a complicit atmosphere and portraying natural elements where power and calm oppose one another.
