Description
'Rising Sun, Kingdom of Lead,' an oil painting on canvas, was created during the pandemic. The title encapsulates the essence of the artwork, portraying the tension experienced by the static figure within its habitat, referred to as the 'kingdom of lead.' The painting reflects on the human condition, which is depicted as heavy and static, like lead, yet it carries a sense of hope for the future as the sun is poised to rise.
The tension lies in the juxtaposition between the weight of the human condition and the optimism symbolized by the impending sunrise. Despite the leaden feel of the human experience, there's a moment when the rising sun infuses the figure with energy, prompting a hopeful stand.
This artwork serves as a poignant reflection on the interplay between the challenges of the present and the optimism for a brighter future.

Presentation
Melinda is a London based artist whose work focuses on the conceptual understanding of the philosophical questions and solutions emerging out of human experience, both individual and collective. She is interested in the present and the past, her paintings explore different points of view on existence. In her creative process colour and texture are important elements, as well as the deconstruction of forms which allows her to find an equilibrium between figuration and abstraction.
