Description

Before us is a vivid anatomy of the urban unconscious—a canvas where the noise of the metropolis is transformed into a powerful artistic manifesto. Dominating the center of the canvas is a massive, sharp-toothed black figure, whose gaping jaws unleash fragments of sound and emotion. Life surges around it: echoes of childhood memories of Mazinger Z, silhouettes of Mickey Mouse, graphic skulls, and marker tags.

Decoding the Graffiti Codes:

Mazinger Z / Pop Icons — Code signs of nostalgia for generations raised on comic books, geek culture, and television.

Black Tooth-Bared Silhouette — A metaphor for the inner voice shouting and amidst information overload.

Crosses, Arrows, and Circles — Visual markers of street signage, turning the pictorial plane into the wall of an abandoned industrial block.

Layers of Paint and Overwriting (Palimpsest) — White strokes covering the lower layers mimic the work of municipal cleaning crews or rival riders buffing out tags. It is an endless game of hide-and-seek between what is concealed and what is revealed.

Alberto Urbano Moreno, Untitled
Spain  • 1974

Presentation

Alberto Urbano Moreno was born in 1974 in the province of Córdoba. He grew up in the small historical town of Monturque, known for its deep archaeological roots, including Roman and Arab monuments.

His first contact with painting occurred at the age of six, a period that coincided with a series of severe personal and family tragedies. Art became more than just a hobby for the child; it served as a psychological defense mechanism and an emotional refuge. As a self-taught artist (), he developed his visual language outside of academic frameworks, relying on childhood memories, intuition, and personal symbolism.

Art critics and historians frequently cite Alberto Urbano as a prominent representative of contemporary outsider art and , comparing the primitivist power and expression of his works to the legacy of Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The Concept of "Caotic Art": Under this name, the artist brings together his main exhibitions and manifestos. His works synthesize internal emotional chaos, the contradictions of human nature, and a reaction to the modern world.

Artistic Influences: His style weaves together elements of traditional , contemporary street art (), and the philosophy of the movement—a "flow" that magnetically connects the viewer and the artist through an impulse.

Materials: Urbano works in mixed and experimental media (). On canvas and heavy cardboard, he combines acrylics, spray paint, textured layering, and graphic lines.

Subjects and Symbols: His canvases frequently feature grotesque characters, masks, and popular cultural archetypes (such as Batman, Meninas, as well as mythological and animal motifs), reinterpreted through the lens of naive art and a vivid, high-contrast chromatic palette.

The artist actively exhibits his work across Spain. Key institutional venues in his career include:

Real Círculo de la Amistad in Córdoba;

The Russian Centre for Science and Culture (Casa de la Cultura Rusa) in Madrid;

As well as a number of private galleries and contemporary art platforms, including gallery exhibitions throughout Andalusia.
