Description
Original hand-painted work, acrylic on canvas.
A woman's face in extreme close-up, cropped so tightly that her gaze spills beyond the stretcher. Dr. Hide abandons any pursuit of realism in favour of bold flat colour and unapologetic brushwork: the modelling of the face is no longer built by light, but by pure pigment. Sky blue settles where the shadows ought to fall, orange and coral warm the temples and cheekbones, yellow slips in at the corner of the mouth, while broad passages of cream and white let the composition breathe.
The gaze carries all the tension of the piece. The eyes, ringed in deep black with lashes worked in dry brush, are an almost unreal blue; they fix on something off-frame, somewhere beyond the viewer. Below, the vermilion red mouth — direct, saturated, almost graphic — lands like a final accent. The contrast between the softness of the face and the chromatic violence creates that ambiguity so characteristic of the artist's work: at once glamour icon and mask, seduction and distance.
The Pop Art lineage is unmistakable, but the surface tells another story. You can see the trace of the brush, the reworkings, the vibrating edges where two colours meet without ever blending. Nothing is smoothed over, nothing is digital: every gesture remains legible.

Already well known under different pseudonyme in the street art scene in Europe since more than five years and had participated in several collective exhibitions in London ; now, Dr Hide is a new perspective, a new project, a new way of expression for this promising and spontaneous artist. Her influences are progressively appearing inside of her artwork which creates an other dimension of understanding inside her existing practice.
