From the series "Miami Skin". Edition of 5. More Sizes and Editions: Small Image size: 27 x 40 in.
This artwork presents a striking black and white image of an architectural facade, defined by its series of repeated archways, each uniquely adorned with an array of black circular patterns varying in size. The arches create a rhythmic sequence that draws the viewer’s eye across the composition, accentuating the contrast between the stark white surfaces and the bold black circles. The foreground features a few palm trees that introduce organic lines, offering a dynamic counterpoint to the rigid architectural structure. The juxtaposition of geometric precision and natural elements embodies a harmonious balance, emphasizing both order and spontaneity. This artwork captivates with its minimalist yet intricate design, highlighting the interplay between light and shadow, and the seamless integration of natural and man-made forms. The bold use of monochrome adds depth, making each circle appear almost three-dimensional against the flat arches.
Edition of 5 Miami Skin is one of the few “Still photo” projects realized only in Black and White. It’s not a traditional collection of photos of the architecture of Miami and Miami Beach. It’s rather a quick journey between its own skin from the Art Deco District to the modern skyline of our days. Stripes, circles, squares, and reflections show only some details of important buildings but they all have the power to arise emotions and unexpected shapes and volumes inside us. A final touch is reserved for nature skin from the ocean to the tropical vegetation. You need now to make an effort of imagination to discover and compose all pictures and eventually frame it in your own mind.
