The forest has no memory. Whoever enters it can forget himself.
We will know nothing about the presence of this woman in the woods.
An escapade or an escape… A before… An after…
All that matters is the power of the place, the fusion of the body and the plant.
“The Moon Has Nothing to Fear from Wolves” is much more than a simple photographic series of naked bodies in the forest. It is a profound exploration of the relationship between man and nature, a dialogue between fragility and strength, between nudity and raw beauty.
Going against the errors of the Anthropocene, this project plunges into a sovereign forest, where humans and nature reinvent their bond.
It’s a patient journey, far from the city, from confinements, from fears, from uncertainties. It is a naked body which lends its porcelain fragility to the elements, which relies on the wind, the earth, the water of the rivers, the century-old trees. A body that blends into an all-powerful setting to draw new strength from it.
Nothing is more alive than this free and confident dissolution in a nature without judgment.
Through this series, VAM and Jean-Pierre Gilson question our relationship to our natural environment as well as our own body, pushing us to think about our place in the ecosystem and the need to reconnect with our most essential essence. pure, that freed from the artifices and constraints imposed by society. They remind us that nature is our cradle, our source of inspiration and our refuge, and that our body is a sacred temple to be cherished and respected.

VAM / Jean-Pierre Gilson, La lune n'a rien à craindre des loups #5
VAM / Jean-Pierre Gilson

VAM / Jean-Pierre Gilson

France  • 2019

With the forest as a link, the visual artist VAM and the photographer Jean-Pierre Gilson confront their worlds. She works on the body, the archetypes of the feminine and its legends. He highlights the secret poetry of landscapes. The series “The moon has nothing to fear from wolves" is the result of three years of collaboration.

A visual artist, VAM navigates between feminine archetypes and contemporary societal developments. Multiplying media (video, installation, sewing, photography, engraving, etc.), she explores emotional paradoxes, distortions of self-image or bodily projections which testify to a sometimes precarious balance. His recent work focuses in particular on the question of the link to the world and to ancestors, genetic imprinting and hybridization. She exhibits regularly in France and abroad.

French photographer whose central theme is landscape, Jean-Pierre Gilson was born on April 25, 1948 in Compiègne. From his passion for the forest, his first territory of exploration, Jean-Pierre Gilson maintains a keen sense of composition which he deploys, with rigor and poetry, to reveal the landscapes he has tirelessly explored for decades. France, Scotland, Ireland, Italy... thousands of kilometers of roads and paths in all seasons, in the early morning, in the mist or the first bursts of sun. Because light is his always accomplice. The one that highlights architecture, that plays with materials, that enhances the simplest landscapes as well as exceptional sites. No ostentation in his photos. It is a photograph without artifice, with contained sensitivity, with controlled framing. Emotion is born from this modesty of the gaze, from this absolute sincerity, creating timeless images where we taste the naked world.

For forty years, more than a hundred exhibitions have been devoted to his work around the world: Paris, Washington, London, Rome, Milan, Arles, Toulouse... Guest of the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie in Arles in 1981, Jean -Pierre Gilson received a mention at the Nadar Prize for his book Scotland, 1991. His photographs appear in various public and private collections: the National Center for Plastic Arts, the National Library, the Nicéphore Niépce Museum, etc.
