Description
WANG BING
After studying photography at the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang (Liaoning Province) from 1992 to 1995, Wang Bing entered the photography department of the Beijing Film Academy, where he began his professional experience. In 1997, he worked as a photographer during the shooting of an institutional documentary film. From 1999 to 2003, he began working alone, pursuing a personal and ambitious project: living in a former industrial district of Shenyang, he filmed and recorded with a digital video (DV) camera the lives of workers in a neighborhood that would soon be destroyed by municipal reform. Thus was born the long documentary (3 parts, more than 9 hours of screening), unique in the history of Chinese independent cinema, West of the Tracks (铁西区), taking its name from the neighborhood.
Wang Bing presents a series of photographs at Atelier Véron, focusing on the fragile beauty of human beings and nature.
