Lacandon dream, 2020

Francis Leroy

Direct printing with UV inks on Dibond, recessed frame. Mexico, the Lacandon people are descendants of the Maya living in the rainforest of the state of Chiapas near the border with Guatemala. The Horizon in Your Eyes - An invitation to travel through images - Under this poetic title, Francis Leroy opens the doors to a universe where the horizon becomes the guiding thread of a nomadic gaze. Each image seems to freeze the suspended moment of an inner journey. We glimpse solitary silhouettes, horizon lines stretched like distant promises. These are not simply places traversed, but fragments of silence, contemplative spaces, where light discreetly caresses the very fabric of the world. The photographer does not seek to document, but to evoke: an emotion, a memory, a breath of infinity. The short text reinforces this purely visual, almost meditative experience. The viewer is invited to project their own story onto these anonymous landscapes, to rediscover a horizon they themselves might have once glimpsed. This silent portfolio functions as a profoundly human visual poem. Far from the tumult, "The Horizon in Your Eyes" reminds us that the journey sometimes begins simply… by opening our eyes.
