Description
This captivating work reveals an ambiguous form, on the border between appearance and disappearance. Depending on the angle and the viewer's perspective, the figure evokes a dislocated, fragmented human body, in the process of recomposition.
The subtle shades of grey, white, and beige, combined with layering and textural effects, create a hazy, almost ethereal atmosphere. The silhouette seems to emerge from an undefined space, oscillating between abstraction and figuration.
The visual layers and variations in texture bring depth and tension, highlighting both the vulnerability and the power contained within this unstable presence. Nothing is fixed: the form transforms depending on the point of view, inviting the viewer to a fluid perceptual experience.
Through this fusion of image alteration and revelation, the artist offers a contemporary reflection on the body, its fragmented identity, and its capacity for reconstruction. A disturbing and poetic work that invites contemplation and questioning.
Presentation
Alexandre Saint-Loup, born Alexandre Woelffel, is a French visual artist and photographer born in 1982 in Strasbourg.
To meet Alexandre Saint-Loup and his work is to plunge into subversive anthropomorphism, to see provocatively, it is to witness a fight against biased ideals and taboos, ultimately, it is to be seized with a vertigo that transcends frontiers of figuration and modern abstraction. In his plastic ideal, the human being, vulnerable, singular, is at the heart of his approach.
Alexandre Saint-Loup sanctifies the balance between “beauty" and “concept", in a certain plastic and aesthetic brutality, a sacred penetration into intimacy. Fascinated by the stigmata, the singularities of the human being, he likes "difficult" subjects, the deconstruction of classic ideas.
