Description
Through this series, Colomba Pino and Fernanda Urquiza offer a contemporary interpretation of still life, transposing the decomposition of vegetation into the language of textiles.
Using photographic prints on fabric, the embroidery alters the surface and introduces a slow temporality, one of transformation and disappearance. The thread does not repair: it penetrates, weakens, and contaminates the image. It reactivates in the textile material what the logic of production seeks to erase: decay, instability, the finitude of life.
By combining AI-generated pixels and embroidery stitches, the artists layer two systems of expression. The textile becomes a hybrid surface, where the image decomposes and the material reveals what usually disappears.
Presentation
Colomba Pino is a Chilean artist whose practice is built around a dialogue between traditional techniques—engraving, ceramics, and embroidery—and a sensitive observation of everyday life. Her work explores how architecture, objects, and domestic gestures become triggers for memory and nostalgia.
At the heart of his approach lies a constantly evolving "photographic archive," comprised of spatial fragments, textures, and atmospheres. These images constitute a repertoire that nourishes his research. The archive becomes a testing ground, a space where questions are reformulated.
Colomba Pino's work explores the tension between the recent and the old, between what persists and what transforms in our living spaces. By combining different techniques, she constructs a territory where the domestic becomes landscape and where observation becomes a tool for reconfiguring the relationships between experience, form, and memory.
