Description
Against an absolute black background, a female silhouette stands in profile, arched, dark hair spread along the back. The face, treated in a deep cyan blue, is turned upwards, eyelids closed — an attitude of surrender or apparition, as if the figure is emerging from the darkness rather than resting in it.
The body, however, is no longer flesh: it is printed paper. A collage of vintage comic book panels unfolds over its entire surface — Captain America full-body, The Flash and The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, The Punisher, fragmented panels, French letterers, printing lines, and onomatopoeias. The word WOW! runs across the cheek, while the skin becomes page, bubble, vignette. The color palette — saturated blues, vivid reds, yellows of aged paper — unifies the whole and makes the dermis and ink converse.
This is the whole principle of F2B series, applied here to the Marvel universe: the female body, a historical support for all visual seduction strategies, finds itself literally dressed in mass imagery. The superposition hides nothing and shows nothing really — it transforms the figure into a screen, a projection surface for contemporary mythologies. The gaze first seeks nudity, finds the superheroes, and understands that both tell the same story: images made to be desired.
The artist, trained at Duperré and having gone through advertising creative direction, applies here their characteristic diversion — associating two iconic registers to reveal their common mechanism.
Presentation
F2B studied at the famous Ecole Supérieure des Arts appliqués Duperré in Paris. He began his career working as Art Director in advertising agencies, an experience that informed his artistic practice.
In his personal work, free from any constraints, F2B hijaks logos and icons known to the public. He loves painting and collage and found a new means of expression through print.
In 2005 his work took a turn towards consumerism and brands, in the tradition of neo pop art. He created "BrandBabes" - pin-ups wearing logos. Named by some art dealers as "one of Warhol's grandsons", F2B explores this new concept in series such as "Buttocks Factory" or "Comixs", inspired by Marvel heroes.
