This captivating still life artwork features a finely woven basket cradling a variety of squashes, set against a deep, shadowy background that accentuates their vivid colors and textures. At the forefront, an intricately detailed acorn squash, its emerald surface punctuated by rustic orange patches, is sliced open to reveal a vibrant, seed-filled interior. Beside it, a smooth, elongated butternut squash sits in elegant contrast, its pale, buttery hue providing a gentle visual balance. The careful composition draws the viewer's eye through a rich interplay of light and shadow, highlighting the natural luster of the squash skins. The artist masterfully uses chiaroscuro, lending the piece a timeless, classical quality. This work explores themes of autumnal abundance, inviting a meditation on the beauty found in everyday harvest scenes.

The bodegones are a pictorial interpretation based on a research project of the famous chef Juan Carlos Franco, on old food recipes of different periods in history. The photographer recreated the images inspired by paintings and images from these eras, also finding inspiration from artists such as Leonardo DA Vinci, Albrecht Dürer, and others.
