This still life artwork masterfully captures the vivid allure of ripe watermelons. A central watermelon is partially sliced, revealing its rich, red interior while the knife, meticulously detailed with an ornate handle, remains lodged within the fruit. The texture of the watermelon rind is captured with precision, its green, striped surface contrasting markedly with the succulent, crimson flesh. A smaller, whole watermelon rests beside it, adding balance and depth. The composition is framed against a muted, dark background, drawing focus to the vibrant colors and intricate details of the fruit. Delicate sprigs of greenery adorn the scene, enhancing its natural elegance. This piece exudes a sense of freshness and abundance, showcasing not just the beauty of the fruit but also the fine craftsmanship involved in its depiction. The artwork stands as a celebration of simplicity and the richness of nature.

The bodegones are a pictorial interpretation based on a research project of the famous chef Juan Carlos Franco, on old food recipes of different periods in history. The photographer recreated the images inspired by paintings and images from these eras, also finding inspiration from artists such as Leonardo DA Vinci, Albrecht Dürer, and others.
