Presentation
Painter, sculptor, and graphic spanish artist, one of the more relevant figure in contemporary art. After finishing his studies in Barcelona Art School, he started as a poster designer and reached a great recognition in cinema and theatre fields.
His work began into a baroque style with violent chromaticism. Time after, his artwork began to simplificate and it became completely abstract in his last years. In 1978, National Modern Art Museum in Paris (now George Pompidou Centre) organised his first retrospective, which made the artist be the most renowned of his generation.
In 1984, Spain brought him to the Venice Biennale and he was awarded with the gold medal by Cataluña Generalitat. His work has been exhibited all around the world: Bilbao Fine Art Museum, Picasso Museum in Antibes or Tate Gallery.
