About the artwork

Artwork sold in perfect condition

Here are the first color lithographs by Enki Bilal! Enki Bilal, visual artist, comic book author, director and writer has just produced 3 original color lithographs for MEL Publisher editions. These are three portraits of hybrid couples, mixtures of machines, men / women and animals, fictional and futuristic witnesses of an evolving humanity. Ancient Egypt is never far from the Nikopol Trilogy, and in this series of lithographs we find one of his favorite subjects. The divine iconography in Egypt is from its origin placed under the sign of diversity and mutation. The zoomorphic form will quickly become purely anthropomorphic, then giving way to a composite form mixing human and animal body The artist adds to this historical, cultural and artistic baggage a strong technological, mechanical and biological dimension to form augmented humans of which he has the power. secret. As the artist himself puts it, "a reconstruction of the human through social, mechanonumerotechnological and transhumanimal hybridization, even more so if other affinities are increased and (or) regressive."

Enki Bilal was born in Yugoslavia in 1951. His childhood in Belgrade during Tito's reign has been decisive for the graphic tone and geopolitical themes he'll elaborate during his collaborations (especially with Pierre Christin), or alone later on. The Nikopol Trilogy which is considered as a work of reference, humorously handles the absurd obsession of human beings and Gods for power. Enki Bilal is also the author of three films, the last one being Immortel Ad Vitam, is a free "dismantling" of the Nikopol Trilogy (the last one, Immortel Ad Vitam, being a free "dismantling" of the Nikopol Trilogy). Froid Equateur was voted the best book of the year in 1993 by Magazine Lire.
