With , Peter Stark presents a striking work that fuses classical religious iconography with contemporary popular culture, creating a diversion that is both aesthetic and symbolic.
The composition draws on the codes of Gothic stained glass: pointed arch, strict symmetry, geometric patterns, and a vibrant palette dominated by blue, red, and gold. At the center, the figure of the Mandalorian is depicted like a saint or a martyr, crowned with a luminous halo and holding his weapon as if it were a sacred attribute. This solemn posture recalls traditional Christian representations, particularly those of the Virgin or protective saints.
The contrast between the cold metallic surface of the helmet and the richness of the ornamental décor creates a strong visual tension. The futuristic armor becomes a relic, while the weapon transforms into a symbol of faith and duty. In this way, Peter Stark elevates a science-fiction hero to the status of a spiritual icon, questioning the place of modern myths in contemporary society.
The black background framing the stained glass reinforces the sense of sacredness, isolating the figure as an object of devotion. Every decorative detail contributes to this quasi-liturgical staging, where pop culture replaces traditional religious narratives.
With , Peter Stark delivers an ironic and powerful reflection on the worship of modern heroes, the transmission of myths, and the way collective imagination today sanctifies figures drawn from cinema and television. The work acts as a bridge between past and future, faith and fiction, sacred art and geek culture.
PETER STARK was born in 1979 in the North of France. He grew up with comics and superheroes. His love for drawing led him to study plastic art and comics. A diploma in visual communication in his pocket, he works as an illustrator, particularly in the field of fashion. His universe very influenced by Pop Art, Comics, like a Roy Lichtenstein. It aims to use popular imagery and references, as opposed to elitist culture, while retaining a dash of satirical irony and anarchy of sorts. He loves mixing opposing universes, recomposing anachronistic images, in particular to question the place of art and artists in our society, while paying tribute to the artists and comic book characters he adores.
