Description
Editions Atelier Clot, Paris. Printed at Atelier Clot, Bramsen & Co (Atelier Clot) on BFK Rive 250g. Hand-signed and numbered by the artist. Publisher's dry stamp (Atelier Clot). Original lithograph.
What makes this edition special is that each print is different. The yellow color is increasingly integrated into the print. Edition number 1 is blue/red. Edition number 120 is orange/green.
This captivating work is distinguished by its masterful use of color and harmonious play of textures. At the center, a bright white circle immediately catches the eye, perhaps symbolizing an element of purity or renewal. Around this central circle, rings of gray-blue and beige hues overlap, creating a hypnotic sense of movement and depth. The background of the composition, a softly nuanced green-gray, provides a subtle but effective contrast with the circular elements, reinforcing their visual presence. The technique employed, certainly a form of pointillism or delicate gradation, demonstrates great craftsmanship and a keen sensitivity to the effects of light and shadow. The absence of superfluous details and the apparent simplicity of the composition give this work a minimalist elegance. Each element is precisely arranged, each color carefully selected to create a visual harmony that is both soothing and intriguing. This piece embodies the perfect balance between abstraction and emotion, inviting the viewer into meditative contemplation. In short, this work is an impressive demonstration of the artist's ability to manipulate shape and color to create a striking and memorable visual experience.
Presentation
Jaakko Antti Mattila, born in 1976 in Oulu, Finland, is a notable Finnish artist. He was educated at The Surrey Institute of Art & Design University College and graduated in 2001. Mattila has exhibited his work in both galleries and public spaces around the world, including Japan, the UK, Italy and France. Mattila's art explores light and nature, creating a unique visual expression. His work often deals with themes of infinity, grandeur and time. He uses various techniques, including watercolor, oil paint, printmaking, and sculpture, and often participates in collaborative community art projects. The patterns that often appear in his work – such as spheres, cubes and spirals – can be seen as nature's building blocks, moving from the very small to the very large. His work deals with elements that we know exist, but may not fully understand. He is fascinated by the unknown in the universe and life, aspects that even science admits it does not fully understand. This fascination with time and impermanence is at the heart of an exciting collaboration Jaakko Mattila has with Noma Projects. Together they have explored the idea of artworks created from seasonal ingredients
